We Are In This Together!
Dear Friends and Community Partners,

We have made it through our first whole month of living and working under the current Public Health orders and this new way of providing essential services to our community. I know it has been a challenge for many of us, and yet we realize the critical importance of doing our part to slow the spread of this virus.

As essential workers, La Familia staff and volunteers continue to be here to assist you and our community with important services and supports, while following health guidelines to ensure the safety of our staff and community. Below are some of the amazing services our team continues to offer.

These challenging times have tested us all but have also given us the opportunity to be compassionate, to be creative and to be better.  The gratitude we’ve seen has warmed our hearts and fueled our energy to continue.

Together with a team of dedicated Staff and Board of Directors, our “Familia” is committed to serving the community in whichever way we can. You too are part of our “Familia” and we wish you health and wellness as we begin another month of our journey together.

Together we will get through this – Juntos Podemos
When this is over may we never again take for granted:
A handshake with a stranger
Full shelves at the store
Conversations with neighbors
A crowded movie theatre
Friday night out
The taste of communion
A routine check up
The school rush each morning
Coffee with a friend
The stadium roaring
Each deep breath
A boring Tuesday
Life itself.
When this ends may we find that we have become more like the people we wanted to be,
the people we were called to be
the people we hoped to be
and may we stay that way- better

Your Change Can Make A Change!
May 7, 2020
With all the uncertainties facing our communities during these unprecedented times, one thing is clear:
La Familia’s unwavering dedication to serving Sacramento families.
More than ever communities need OUR support and La Familia is allocating funds raised during Big Day of Giving for 2 important causes:
Summer Youth Services and Economic Relief to Families.
Children have been distance learning since March with uncertainty of when they will be back in a classroom. While we are not certain what our County restrictions for gathering will be by the summer time, we are certain of our commitment to provide engaging and enriching activities to Youth this summer whether onsite or virtually.

We also know that the need for economic relief is greater than the resources available, especially for the most vulnerable populations. That is why we want to help by providing direct relief to Sacramento families affected by COVID-19. Your donations can help us assist with rent, utilities, food, healthcare costs and other needs to support families, youth and children.

In these uncertain times, your donation both big and small can make a BIG impact on the lives of at-risk youth and families of diverse backgrounds.

Happy Mother’s Day!
May 10, 2020
Mother’s Day is a celebration honoring the mother of the family, as well as motherhoodmaternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. Due to social distancing Mother’s Day will look very differently this year but can still be just as special. The kindest thing you can do for your mother is to make her feel appreciated.
Memorial Day
May 25, 2020
Memorial Day is observed on the last Monday of May to honor those who have died while serving in the military. It’s a holiday steeped in somber American history and tradition. The day actually began as “Decoration Day,” following the Civil War, when mourners placed flowers on the graves of Union and Confederate soldiers. The purpose of Memorial Day is to memorialize the veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
