La Familia has a range of programs and services that are open to families and adults. Play Care is available for children ages 0 to 5 years so that parents can attend workshops and events. The information below outlines programs and eligibility information.

Our Programs

Behavioral and Physical Health

Eligibility – Children’s Mental Health Services – Children and Youth ages 0-21 with Medi-Cal

Fees – No Cost

La Familia provides Mental Health counseling services for children and youth ages 0 to 21 and their families. Family-driven mental health services are provided through home visitation, at school sites, at La Familia’s Maple Neighborhood Center, or at other locations as requested by families.

 Individual and family counseling and groups are provided for children and youth experiencing emotional and behavioral concern/challenges. A wide array of Psychiatric services are offered with a strength based, family focused approach.

Family Partner & Youth Advocate

EligibilityFamilies of children and youth, ages 0-21.

La Familia’s Family & Youth Advocates provide family members with resources and parental support through the Children’s Mental Health services program and Supporting Community Connections.

Supporting Community Connections (SCC)

Eligibility – Latino Individuals and Families of all ages

Fees – No Cost

Geographic Areas – Sacramento

Language – English, Spanish

Supporting Community Connections Program (SCC) – Supporting Community Connections is Latino community support for all ages, open to anyone free of charge. The program connects The Latino community with suicide prevention resources and intervention training. La Familia works to build a mentally healthy and resilient Latino community through risk awareness workshops, support groups, senior companion groups and events.

Centro de Apoyo Latino (CAL)

Eligibility – Latino Individuals and Families of all ages

Fees – No Cost

Geographic Areas – Sacramento

Language – English, Spanish

Centro de Apoyo Latino Program (CAL) – The Centro de Apoyo Latino Program is for Latino Adults that are primarily Spanish speakers of all ages. CAL provides brief short term crisis intervention services along with navigation to longer term solutions. CAL provides one on one navigation, support groups and community resources.

Community Health Navigator Program

Eligibility – Community members of all ages

Fees – No Cost

Geographic Areas – Sacramento County

Language – English, Spanish,Hmong

La Familia’ Health Navigation provides assistance with:

  • COVID-19 Testing
  • COVID-19 Vaccinations
  • Medi-Cal enrollment and retention
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Health resources and referrals
  • Health awareness workshops – Diabetes, Nutrition and other Health Workshops in English and Spanish
  • Recreational Workshops – Zumba and Meditation

Youth Voice

Eligibility – Youth Ages 14-21yrs

Fees – No Cost

Youth Voice Is a program for youth ages 14-21 years old. Youth Voice provides youth leadership training, community workshops on civic engagement, violence prevention, tobacco prevention and education on other health related issues.

Youth Pop Ups

Eligibility – Youth Ages 12-21yrs

FREE Pop-up events provide safe, fun, and enriching activities to engage youth ages 12-21 years old.

Birth & Beyond

Eligibility – Families with Children Ages 0-18yrs

The Birth & Beyond Family Resource Centers offer a wide range of free services to Sacramento County’s Families, including pregnant moms and new dads. Birth & Beyond Family Resource Centers offer Nurturing Parenting Home Visitation, Crisis Intervention, School Readiness, Parenting Workshops, Community Referrals, and FUN ACTIVITIES for the entire family.

    Home Visitation

    Provides weekly case management as well as parenting lessons to clients in the privacy of their home. The evidence-based curriculum, the Nurturing Parenting Program (NPP), is focused on developing an empathetic parent-child relationship and introducing families to positive parenting approaches. Home visitation also connects families with community resources, health education, and information.

     

    Parenting Classes

    ages 0 -18

    Court approved workshops designed to improve parenting skills. Parents
    learn about child development, empathy, discipline, and empowerment. Classes are available to expectant families; parents of infants, toddlers, preschoolers, school-age children and fathers. Play care available to current clients attending workshops.

    Classes are offered during the day and evening.

    Crisis Intervention Specialist

    Eligibility – Children ages 0-18 and their families.

    Fees – No Cost

    Geographic Areas – Sacramento

    Language – English, Spanish

    Addresses the urgent needs of families that can spiral into a family crisis. The Intervention Specialist assists families with concrete support in times of need. Families receive advocacy and resources to address their immediate crisis. Domestic Violence Support Groups.

    Car Seat Workshops

    Eligibility – Families with Children

    Fees – No Cost

    Geographic Areas – Sacramento

    Language –English,Spanish

    To receive free car seat/booster, parents or care-givers may register to attend a two-hour class where you will receive an appropriate seat for your child. Parent/care-giver must bring child with them to workshop. Everyone is welcome, must have a child 0-5 years.

     

      Parent Support Group

      Eligibility -Families with children between es of 0-5 years.

      Fees – No Cost

      Families with children between the ages 0-5 years of age are invited to participate in our weekly Parent Stress Reducing Class. Parents can de-stress by participating in Arts and Crafts and can make new friends! Play care available for children 0-5 years of age!

       

      Early Learners

      Eligibility – Children ages 2-4yrs

      Welcome parents with children 2-4 years of age! Come to our weekly playgroup to learn about early school readiness and child development, and how to stimulate your baby’s growing brain. A place to play for you and your child!

       

      Homework Club

      Healthy Harvest - Cosecha Sana

      Farmworkers, food vendors, and food processing workers affected by COVID-19.

      La Familia is providing aid to the agricultural community of Sacramento County affected by COVID-19. Quarantine support includes: a hotel room for up to 14 days, free meals and laundry, free transportation, free wellness checks, financial assistance, support for family at home. All information is kept safe and no questions will be asked about immigration status. Call La Familia for more information today!       La Familia esta ofreciendo varios servicios gratuitos para ayudar a la comunidad agrícola en el condado de Sacramanto afectrada por COVID-19.       Community Activites

      Annual Health & Safety Fair

      La Familia’s Annual Health & Safety Fair is held in partnership with other private and public agencies each year. Participants receive free health related screenings, resources and information, activities for families and their children, healthy snacks are given to the community members and prizes are raffled. There is assistance with Medi-Cal applications. Check the events calendar for date, time and location.

      Trunk or Treat

      La Familia’s Annual Trunk or Treat is a Free and Safe event for the Youth in our Community. Participants dress up in thier best Halloween Costume and enjoy the activities and decorated trunks. 

      La Posada Holiday Celebration

      La Familia’s Annual Posada Holiday Celebration is a Free Community Event held in December. All are welcome to attend and enjoy the festivities. Arts and Crafts, Activities, Music, Pan Dulce and meet Santa!
