Having
a new baby in the home means a family must make adjustments that can be especially hard for a family already
facing challenges.
Birth & Beyond is an award-winning home visitation program
that offers early prevention support for pregnant women or
families with newborns 0 to 5 years old.
The
goal of the program is to help build strong families, meet
the needs of growing infants, and ensure that every baby receives
medical care. Assistance with Medi-Cal application provided.
First 5 funded programs for children 0 to 5 years old
- Birth & Beyond Nurturing Parenting Home Visitation This program is an in-home evidenced-based parenting education program, targeting zip codes 95814, 95820, 95822, 95824, 95827, 95655 and 95632. Home Visitors work with families to build parent-child relationships through bonding, teach child development and parenting skills, link families to health services, and provide resources and information. Families are encouraged to participate in activities/services offered at La Familia. A multi-disciplinary team meets and reviews cases.
- Family Resource Center Effective Parenting Initiative Parenting education and support services/activities services are offered at La Familia or within the community. Evidenced-based parenting workshops are offered in English, Hmong and Spanish. Additional services include play care, child development groups, educational workshops, stress reducing activities, healthy living workshops, car safety training, and information and referral.
- Crisis Intervention Specialist
The Crisis Intervention Specialist provides crisis intervention services, including direct intervention, information, referral, and follow-up, to parents experiencing a crisis. Case management is provided as needed to mitigate the crisis and help the family stabilize.
